Flow Formed UTV Wheels

WHAT IS FLOW FORMING?

A flow-formed wheel is a high-performance hybrid between a standard cast wheel and a premium forged wheel. It is created using a specialized manufacturing process that applies heat and high-pressure rollers to "stretch" a cast aluminum preform into its final shape.

1. Initial Casting: The process begins with a low-pressure or gravity cast wheel, but the barrel is intentionally cast much narrower and thicker than the final intended width.
2. Spinning & Heating: This "preform" is placed on a specialized machine, heated, and rapidly spun.
3. Flow Forming: High-pressure hydraulic rollers press against the spinning barrel, squeezing and stretching the metal longitudinally to achieve the desired width and thickness.
4. Grain Alignment: This mechanical manipulation changes the molecular structure of the aluminum, aligning the grains to be denser and more uniform—similar to the properties of a forged wheel.
